Today's journey takes you north-westwards to Orvieto, a charming city in the Umbria region. By early evening, you will arrive in Siena, giving you some free time to visit this Tuscan gem. Head to one of the cafés surrounding Il Campo to take in one of Italy's most unique squares, famed across the world for its Palio horse race.

Later, head across the wooded Apennine Hills into the farmlands of the Po Valley for two overnights in the Venice area.
