Welcome to paradise, otherwise known as Corfu. Day 5. Corfu
Today, experience more of Corfu by visiting the luxurious 19th century Achilleion Palace. Built by Italian architect Raffaele Carito, this impressive palace was originally created for the Empress of Austria, Elisabeth von Wiltelsbach. The palace is now a museum where visitors can view fantastic pieces of art and leisurely stroll through the vibrant gardens filled with statues.
If seeing the Achilleion Palace wasn't enough to satisfy your architectural inspirations, then head about 3 km outside of Corfu Town to the Mon Repos Palace estate. Sitting atop the Analipsis hill, this grande structure was built by British Commissioner Frederick Adams in 1824. Similar to the Achilleion Palace, the Mon Repos Palace estate is now home to a museum showcasing Ionian artifacts and art pieces.
